The Tampa Bay Buccaneers officially announced the signing of Chicago Bears free agent tight end John Gilmore on Saturday. Gilmore signed a three-year contract with the Buccaneers, who are visiting with Titans free agent TE Ben Troupe and still are interested in re-signing both of their own free agent tight ends.

The Buccaneers have announced on Saturday that they have officially signed Chicago Bears free agent tight end John Gilmore to a contract.

Gilmore signed a three-year contract with the Buccaneers.

The 6-foot-5, 257-pound Gilmore originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick out of Penn State in 2002. Although he entered the league with the New Orleans Saints, Gilmore has spent his entire career in Chicago, where he caught 21 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns as a reserve player. Gilmore is known primarily for his blocking ability.

The Bucs might not be done signing tight ends. They spent Saturday visiting with Titans free agent TE Ben Troupe and still are interested in signing their own free agent tight ends, Anthony Becht and Jerramy Stevens.

Tampa Bay has also visited with Atlanta free agent TE Alge Crumpler, who reportedly is leaning towards signing with Seattle, and has expressed interest in New Orleans TE Eric Johnson.
