Tampa Bay worked out former Chicago Bears offensive tackle Fred Miller at One Buccaneer Place on Tuesday. Miller, 35, started 164 of the 186 games he's played in since 1996. The Bucs have yet to announce their roster cuts, and Miller flew home Tuesday to make a family decision on whether to sign with Chicago or Tampa Bay.

The Bucs have already submitted their roster league-mandated roster maneuvers to the NFL front office, as each team was required to trim their 80-man rosters to 75 players by 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday. The Bucs have not yet announced any roster cuts or moves.

Even after the roster moves are announced, Tampa Bay's roster likely will remain a work in progress, especially if some of the players the team is interested in decide to join the Buccaneers.

One of those players is former Chicago Bears offensive tackle Fred Miller, who worked out at One Buccaneer Place on Tuesday.

Miller, 35, has started 164 of the 186 games he's played in since entering the league in 1996. Miller has played for St. Louis (1996-99), Tennessee (2000-04) and Chicago (2005-07).

The 6-foot-7, 314-pound Miller is reportedly considering contract offers from Tampa Bay and Chicago. Miller's agent, Harold Lewis, told PewterReport.com that Miller had a good visit and workout with the Buccaneers and flew home on Tuesday to make a decision on where to sign with his family.

Tampa Bay's interest in Miller likely was elevated after the Bucs released T Luke Petitgout from the physically unable to perform list with a failed physical on Aug. 16.

Third-year player Donald Penn is Tampa Bay's starting left tackle, but the Bucs are interested in adding a quality backup tackle to their roster. Should the Bucs sign Miller, Bucs G/T Anthony Davis' 53-man roster spot likely would be in jeopardy.
