Bucs Add 10 Players To Offseason Roster |
![]() The Bucs signed 10 futures free agents, including defensive tackle Dre Moore (Cliff Welch) |
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers started adding players to their active roster with the signing of 10 players. Among those nine players was 2007 fourth-round pick DT Dre Moore to a two-year contract. Offensive lineman Julius Wilson signed a three-year deal, and other practice squad players were signed to the roster.
The other players signed were: defensive tackle Chris Bradwell, offensive lineman Julius Wilson, defensive back Kyle Arrington, defensive back Greg Fassitt, defensive end Louis Holmes, offensive lineman Anthony Alabi, kicker Shane Andrus, safety Jamall Johnson, and tight end Jason Pociask.
Players who are signed to "future" contracts mean that they are signed for the 2009 season even though that season does not officially start until February 27. Only players who were not on any NFL team’s active roster when the 2008 season began are eligible for these types of contracts. Players who were on NFL practice squads at the end of the year are eligible to sign with any team.
Other then Moore, four of the players signed finished the 2008 season on the Bucs practice squad. Pociask, Arrington, Fassitt, and Wilson were those players and they all signed multi-year contracts. Johnson, Holmes, and Andrus also signed two-year deals.
Wilson was the only player signed to a three-year contract. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins in 2007, and also spent time with the St. Louis Rams. He played collegiately at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Alabi also entered the league with Miami as a fifth-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft out of Texas Christian. After being waived by Miami, Alabi was claimed by the Kansas City Chiefs but was released at the end of the preseason. Alabi was the only player signed to a one-year contract.
Andrus kicked for Murray State in college, and entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts. Pociask was a fifth-round pick of the Jets in the 2006 draft coming out of Wisconsin, and also spent time with the New England Patriots.
Tampa Bay traded up in the fourth-round of the 2008 NFL draft to select Moore, but the rookie struggled with conditioning and the transition to the NFL. Moore was considered to be called up to the active roster in December when the Buccaneers defensive tackles were impacted by injuries.

This is the most pointless article ever posted on pewterreport. This is symbolic of the Bucs season. You read the title and you get all excited and then you start reading the actual content and realize this is just offseason fodder.
I hope Dre Moore pans out, I'm happy he has a contract and everything, but seriously, I was hoping to hear that the Bucs had given Clayton, McCown, Buchanon, and Bryant a new contract or something.

So does this mean that our 2nd, 4th, 5th round picks are bust?
I hope not.

Wasn't Moore a 2008 4th round draft pick?

For those of us that love to read any kind of Bucs news, (especially when the season is over) will read articles such as this, to keep in touch with what is going on during the slow time of the offseason. Every article can not be exclusive breaking news. If a person deems news like this pointless, then the fish wraps are their best source of Bucs news!
