The Bucs signed another draft pick Friday, inking wide receiver Sammie Stroughter to a four-year contract. Stroughter missed Tampa Bay's mandatory mini-camp practices with a hamstring injury. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have another member of their 2009 NFL Draft class under contract after signing wide receiver Sammie Stroughter to his rookie contract Friday.

Financial terms of the deal were not immediately available, but sources have told PewterReport.com that Stroughter inked a four-year contract that includes escalators in the final year of his deal.

The Bucs had already signed another seventh-round pick, tackle Xavier Fulton, to a four-year contract earlier this offseason.

To make room for Stroughter on their offseason roster, the Bucs released WR Amari Jackson, as well as linebacker Jamaal Johnson and cornerback Evan McCollough.

Stroughter, who was impressive in offseason workouts before he missed Tampa Bay's mandatory mini-camp with a hamstring injury, was the 233rd overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at Oregon State, catching 164 passes for 2,653 yards and 14 touchdowns while missing playing time due to a lacerated kidney and depression.

However, the 5-foot-9, 191-pound Stroughter rebounded as a senior, catching 70 passes for 1,040 yards and seven touchdowns, earning first-team All-Pac-10 honors.

The Bucs are still working on signing the rest of their 2009 NFL Draft class, including quarterback Josh Freeman (first round), defensive tackle Roy Miller (third round), defensive end Kyle Moore (fourth round) and cornerback E.J. Biggers (seventh round).

4 years seems a bit long for a 7th round pick, good move by the front office! As a player I dont see the upside of it though!

It does seem long... maybe he took it because of all the incentives reportedly loaded into the contract as escalators.

Here's to hoping he plays like a 1st round pick instead of a seventh!

Go Bucs!

It would be great if he turns into a Steve Smith type of player, FO must be thinking along similar lines to give him a yr deal...

I don't see him as a Steve Smith type guy, but I'd settle for a Wes Welker type guy! :)

All you Buc fans will be pleasantly surprised by this kid. I will go out on the limb and say by midseason this guy will be the No. 2 receiver on this team unless the Bucs pick up another good receiver by the start of the season. This guy has all the intangibles that will make him one of the best receivers on the team.

I like the chemistry that I've been reading about between this guy and Freeman....With any luck at all we could be looking at the next "Manning to Harrison" duo. Is that too much to hope for?

Brandon Marshall is a punk. He has had three seperate incidents involving domestic violence and one charge is still pending. We don't need to sign this woman beating punk. We are better off with our own guys.

With Tampa refusing to overpay or trade for another receiver they must feel pretty good about our wr corps. There's no way they are treating this as a throwaway year.

I think the Bucs will have a sucessful year just like M iami know think that they do anything but lose , lose yes, but make to the playoff 9-7 season wildcard

I hope all the draft picks make this team and make good contributions . Would be a nice way for Morris & Dominik to start their new regime off, no blown draft picks & a franchise qb. If & yes I do mean if we have a decent year which I would say 7-9 or 8-8 would be considered that then they will have alot of peoples confidence since so many pondits & fans know without a shadow of doubt that the Bucs will be lucky to win 4 games this season. This would shut them all up & hopefully get some off Grudens jock too !
