Completely Disastrous: Giants Run Over Bucs, 24-0

The Bucs fell to 0-3 on the season with their 24-0 loss at home to the New York Giants Sunday (Getty)

UPDATED: The Bucs fell to 0-3 after getting "out-manned and out-gunned" by the New York Giants, 24-0, in what was the third-worst offensive performance in Tampa Bay history. The Bucs offense produced just 86 yards and five first downs against the Giants, which rushed for 226 yards against Tampa Bay's 31st-ranked defense.

TAMPA – The Buccaneers’ 24-0 loss to the New York Giants begs the question, why wait until the throwback game on November 8 to bring out the old Bucco Bruce creamsicle uniforms?

“We were clearly out-manned today,” Bucs head coach Raheem Morris said of team’s loss. “We were beat by a grown-man team today, a team we want to be like one day. They came in here and took it to us. They out-manned us, out-gunned us. They were the better team today, clearly. It wasn’t even close.”

Sunday’s defeat, which came before an equally mixed crowd of Giants and Bucs fans, was a blast from the past – from Tampa Bay’s yesterday when the team was known as the “Yuccaneers.” Nothing went right for the Buccaneers as the defense allowed the Giants to gain 397 total yards, rush for 226 yards, convert 63 percent of their third downs (10-of-16) and score 24 points.

The Bucs offense, which came into the game ranked fourth in the NFL, was even worse, accumulating only 86 yards of total offense while being shut out by the Giants. Tampa Bay began the 2009 season with a potent offense and some deficiencies on defense. It took just three games for the Bucs offense to catch up with the NFL’s 31st-ranked defense in terms of futility as Tampa Bay was out-gained by 311 yards.

For the second straight game, the Bucs fell behind by double digits early, trailing the Giants 14-0 after the first play of the second quarter. With 13:00 left in the second quarter, the Giants had outgained the Bucs, 147-14 yards, and Tampa Bay was averaging only two yards per play compared to the Giants, which were averaging seven yards per play.

It never got better. Throughout the game, the Bucs watched the Giants do everything Tampa Bay ultimately wants to do, which is control the clock by running the ball on offense and forcing three-and-outs and turnovers on defense. New York owned a 12:35 to 2:25 time of possession advantage over Tampa Bay in the first quarter and finished the game with a gaudy 43:38 to 16:22 edge in time of possession.

“You have no choice but to get better than this performance today,” Morris said. “You get five first downs and you’re 0-for-9 on third down. You have 86 yards of total offense. It was completely disastrous. I don’t even know if you can blame one man. I don’t know if you can blame any two men. You have to go back and look at the whole thing and evaluate everything you did today. The only way you can get better is good eye, bad eye, self-evaluate, move on to the next opponent and be ready. You let this one linger on and you’ll lose three more backing this one up. This thing is over. That game is over. That game was out-gunned, out-manned, out-everything, out-coached. Whatever you want to call it. They were the better football team today.

On the ground, the Giants were led by Ahmad Bradshaw, who rushed for 104 yards on 14 carries (7.4 avg.), including a 38-yarder. Bradon Jacobs was eight yards shy of 100 yards, rushing for 92 yards on 26 carries (3.5 avg.) and one touchdown. Eli Manning was efficient and error-free, completing 14-of-24 passes for 161 yards with two touchdowns. Steve Smith hauled in seven passes for 63 yards and a touchdown, while Mario Manningham had four catches for 55 yards.

The Bucs came nowhere close to matching that type of production. Running back Derrick Ward started against his former team, but was held to two yards on five carries. Cadillac Williams didn’t fare much better, rushing for eight yards on two carries.

Quarterback Byron Leftwich was 7-of-16 for 22 yards with one interception before being benched in the fourth quarter for second-year quarterback Josh Johnson, who completed 4-of-10 passes for 36 yards and also astonishingly led the Bucs in rushing with one scramble for 15 yards.

After the game, Morris backed up his veteran quarterback, indicating that Leftwich would start next week at Washington (1-3), which is coming off a devastating 19-14 loss to Detroit, which halted its winless streak at 19 games.

“I can’t sit here and tell you that this game can be blamed on any one man,” Morris said. “Five first downs, 0-for-9 on third down, 28 yards rushing. If I take Byron Leftwich out of the game, I might as well take everyone else out with him.”

After the game, Leftwich was perplexed by what just happened.

“We didn’t make any plays,” Leftwich said. “We made zero plays. We made no plays. We made no plays as an offense and you just win football games that way.

Through three games, the Bucs have been outscored 30-0 in the first quarter. By halftime, the Giants held a 14-0 lead with Lawrence Tynes’ 21-yard missed field goal with 19 seconds left before halftime serving as the only positive for Tampa Bay. The Giants out-gained the Bucs 215-19 yards in the first 30 minutes of play.

The Giants took the opening possession and ran it down the Bucs’ throats – literally. Jacobs started the game with three carries for 12 yards and finished the series with 33 yards rushing on six carries. Bradshaw added 14 more on one carry while Manning was 3-of-4 on his opening drive for 33 yards with Smith the recipient of his trio of completions as the Giants methodically drove down the field. Jacobs’ capped off the scoring drive with a 6-yard touchdown run on second-and-goal. With 8:05 left in the first quarter, New York opened up a 7-0 lead.

Cornerback Terrell Thomas picked off Leftwich’s pass, which was intended for Winslow, at the Giants’ 34-yard line. That play sparked another New York scoring drive, which took seven plays and covered 66 yards. Manning hit Manningham with a 10-yard strike and Smith with a 7-yard pass, but it was Bradshaw’s 38-yard run down to the Tampa Bay 9 that keyed the drive. On third-and-goal from the 4, Manning zipped a slant pass to Smith for a touchdown. With 14:54 left in the second quarter, the Giants increased their lead to 14-0.

The Bucs caught a break when the Giants drove 51 yards down to the Tampa Bay 2 right before halftime but couldn’t punch it in the end zone on third-and-goal before Tynes’ 21-yard missed field goal. Manningham had two catches for 25 yards on the drive, while Bradshaw had 17 yards rushing on four carries and Jacobs rushed for 19 yards on four carries.

The Giants had a similar drive in the third quarter, marching 64 yards in 12 plays while advancing to the Tampa Bay 12. Manning provided two big plays through the air, the first of which was a 20-yard completion from Manning to Manningham on third-and-12 from the New York 26. On first-and-10 from the Tampa Bay 31, Manning hit tight end Matt Boss with a 24-yard gain that pushed the ball down to the 12. Three plays later, Tynes’ 26-yard field goal was good and the Giants led 17-0 with 5:48 left in the third quarter.

With 4:59 left in the third quarter, Tampa Bay gained its initial first down of the game on a 3-yard run by Williams on second-and-3. Then the Bucs proceeded to get their fifth straight third-and-out of the game after picking up the first down.

New York increased its lead to 24-0 with 12:26 left in the fourth quarter thanks to a 12-play, 72-yard drive. Manning rushed for a key first down with a 9-yard scramble on third-and-8 to the Giants’ 39. Manning was the difference again on third-and-8 from the Tampa Bay 25 as he completed a 10-yard pass to Steve Smith despite pressure from three Bucs defenders. Two plays later, Manning threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Sinorice Moss, who had a step on cornerback Aqib Talib down the right sidelines.

Johnson entered the game and replaced Leftwich at quarterback with 9:33 remaining in the fourth quarter and ignited the Bucs offense, which had generated only 35 yards up until that point. Johnson drove Tampa Bay from its own 26 down to the New York 5. The big play of the drive was a 15-yard scramble by Johnson on second-and-9 from the Bucs’ 25. That represented the Bucs’ second first down of the game, which came at the 8:39 mark of the fourth quarter.

On the next play, a 25-yard pass interference penalty on cornerback Bruce Johnson gave Tampa Bay a first down at the New York 40. Johnson completed an 8-yard pass to rookie receiver Sammie Stroughter on fourth-and-4 at the 21. Stroughter picked up another first down with a 15-yard catch on the next play. However, with four tries from the Giants’ 5-yard line, Johnson failed to complete a pass and the ball was turned over to New York. The Bucs’ best opportunity for a score was a Johnson pass to Michael Clayton, who dropped a catchable pass in the back of the end zone.

That play was just one of the embarrassing moments from an embarrassing performance by the Buccaneers on Sunday. Although don’t tell that to Morris.
“We don’t use words like embarrassed around here,” Morris said. “There’s no such thing as embarrassed. What you put on tape is who you are, what you are and what you did today. That’s what they were today. They were exactly that on tape. We got beat by a grown-man team and we have to find a way to step up to the challenge and be that guy.

“No, I’m never embarrassed. We have to go out and step up and play. We don’t use words like that.”

The score was not as indicative of how much the Giants dominated the Bucs. It should have been worse.

“It’s disgusting, to be honest with you,” Williams said.

THE 10 WORST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCES IN BUCS HISTORY
The Bucs’ 86-yard performance against the Giants on Sunday ranks as the third-worst in team history behind a 78-yard effort in Tampa Bay’s 17-0 home loss to Atlanta in 1977 and the team’s 65-yard outing in the infamous “Snow Bowl” at Green Bay, which featured former Tampa Bay quarterback Steve Young presiding over the hapless Bucs.  The team’s five first downs against New York on Sunday is tied for the worst in franchise history.

The following are the Bucs’ most futile efforts over the last four decades when factoring in total yardage, first downs and points scored:

1. December 1, 1985 at Green Bay
Packers 21, Buccaneers 0
5 first downs, 65 total yards

2. November 27, 1977 at Tampa Bay
Falcons 17, Buccaneers 0
8 first downs, 78 yards

3. September 27, 2009 at Tampa Bay
New York Giants 24, Buccaneers 0
5 first downs, 86 total yards

4. October 3, 1976
Colts 42, Buccaneers 17
6 first downs, 89 yards

5. November 26, 1978 at Chicago
Bears 14, Buccaneers 3
6 first downs, 92 yards

6. December 5, 1976 at Pittsburgh
Steelers 42, Buccaneers 0
8 first downs, 105 yards

7. December 14, 1991 at Chicago
Bears 27, Buccaneers 0
7 first downs, 106 yards

8. December 14, 1997 at New York
New York Jets 31, Buccaneers 0
6 first downs, 111 yards

9. September 19, 1976 at Tampa Bay
Chargers 23, Buccaneers 0
5 first downs, 125 yards

10. September 10, 2006 at Tampa Bay
Ravens 27, Buccaneers 0
8 first downs, 142 yards

PEWTERREPORT.COM PLAYER OF THE GAME
Tampa Bay’s defense was quite bad once again, surrendering 397 yards, including 226 yards rushing, and allowing the Giants to convert 63 percent (10-of-16) on third downs. The Bucs offense was comical, generating zero points, 86 yards and not getting its initial first down of the game until 4:59 left in the third quarter.

So that leaves Tampa Bay’s most productive player on Sunday coming from special teams where punter Dirk Johnson was pretty solid. Due to Tampa Bay’s inept offense, Johnson punted seven times for 311 yards, averaging 44.4 yards per punt with a 37.9-yard net average. Johnson didn’t have a punt downed inside the Giants’ 20, but didn’t have a touchback, either. In fact, Johnson has yet to have a touchback through three games.

IT WAS OVER WHEN…
Although the Bucs didn’t know it at the time, this game was over from the minute the Giants marched 80 yards in 12 plays to score their opening touchdown, which came on a 6-yard run by running back Brandon Jacobs. With 8:05 left in the first quarter, this contest was done and New York was the winner. The Giants scored more points and gained almost as many yards as the Bucs would have all game.

STATS THAT COUNT
Middle linebacker Barrett Ruud had 14 tackles to lead the Bucs. … Safety Will Allen got his first start in over two years and made 10 tackles. … Tampa Bay’s offense was so bad that cornerback Corey Webster only needed four stops to become the Giants’ leading tackler on the day. … Tight end Kellen Winslow had a team-high three catches for 14 yards. … Rookie receiver Sammie Stroughter had a team-high 23 yards receiving on two catches. … Wide receiver Brian Clark had three special teams tackles. ... The Bucs did not record a sack for the first time this season.

time to start screaming for a new head coach. I'm all for a coach who's young, hip and friendly with the players, but the "coaching" part needs to come first, especially when defense is supposed to be your specialty and you've been gashed for 1300 yards in the first three games.

Hey lets look at the positives here. This the best Bats defense has played all year.
We only allowed 24 points and no 70+ yard plays.

and at least we got to see JJ play...

Heem is obviously in WAAAAAAYYYYY over his head as is the rest of the coaching staff..

Its obvious the Gayzers have given up on this franchise-they should sell this team to a market that is hungry for a football team..I hope the entire Manchester United roster catches the swine flu and drop off the face of the eartth !!!

Can we bring back Ray Perkins?

Where are all the SLUGWICH lovers now ???? Go ahead and make excuses for him !!! Enough is enough. If you are a REAL coach MORRIS you start Johnson, use Freeman as the backup Bench Slugwich AND Adams and let them sit together.

The calling for Raheem to be fired is crazy and just won't happen in season 1 unless they go winless. So get over that fact right now as fans. The fact remains the team just stinks right now, and hasn't found an identity. I think we should go with Josh Johnson for now that we see we don't have a team that contend for anything. Talib, Barber, and Hovan are the only guys on the defensive side of the ball showing any heart.
Barrett Ruud, Gaines Adams, Micheal Clayton, and Byron Leftwich=Hot Over Paid Garbage.

I'm sick of hearing from all you positive jack asses! Stop looking at the team through pewter and red glasses. I feel like I'm watching a division 2 football team try and play and keep up with a NFL team. This is so sad, and like maarnold1775 said we have 13 more to go. I'm starting to think they can go 0-16, there's just nothing there that I'm seeing to make me think otherwise.

This coach needs to go if he can't see what Johnson brings to the team instead of that slug Leftwich.

What the hell is wrong wtth him? The offense played like the slow , lethargic, lead ass QB that was out there looking like a 5 team reject! This team if it was playing well would only win 5 or 6 games, yet Morris keeps a QB in there who offers nothing to the team except for losing. If he doesn't play Johnson next week, they should start a drive to run him out of town! At least if the line breaks down, Johnson has a chance to make something instead of getting sacked!

And our great new Defensive coach Bates, when are you going to finally put on the bench that sorry excuse of a DE ......Adams, and put someone in there who has a chance to do something different. Where the hell is the BLITZ Bates? Your front four can't do it so why not blitz and put pressure on the QB? You are as much a moron as your head coach with your game plan!

This is one of the most embarassing games as a Buc fan I have ever had the agony to watch!!!!! My God Morris, you actually were almost the Defensive coordinator under Gruden if he would have stayed. You better take control of that defense because you won't make it through the season leaving it to Bates to run that sorry exucse of a defense!

4:06pm, September 27, 2009

Byron looked awful!! I hope we get to see J.J for a few games. If we are going to lose, we might as well give someone with upside some experience. You never know what you have until you give these backups a chance.

Anyone count how many balls Clayton dropped?

4:08pm, September 27, 2009

litzy - I have to disagree with you.

This team has found an identity!

We are the new push-overs. A team that gets to go up against other teams back-ups in the 4th quarter.

RahRah Fast-Talker has a lot of fast talking to do to explain why this team was so ill prepared to play football today. There was no sign of offense and Manning could have knitted a sweater in the backfield he had so much time to throw the ball. This was simply an embarrassment. This team lacks leadership, looks bewildered and is totally undisciplined. In short this is a team in disarray that has nothing to build on for next week. This is who this team is. They have a bunch of backups starting and they are overmatched on both sides of the ball. RahRah Fast-Talker has an 0-3 team on his hands and no wins in sight. 35 yards of total offense through 3 quarters and you don’t get your first first down until 4:50 left in the 3rd quarter. Clueless. I challenge anyone to put a positive spin on this one.

4:10pm, September 27, 2009

FLBoyInDallas

In my opinion the Giants are the best team in the league right now...better than the Ravens even (who absolutely trounced the Browns today to go 3-0).

Our defense looked slightly, and I mean slightly, improved today especially in the area of big plays. Our LB's and DB's are getting better and better each week. However, our line sucks as bad as any line I've ever seen. Our DE's especially are totally ineffective. If we don't get some DE help soon we're definitely going 0-16 without a doubt. If Bates needs to start dialing up frequent blitzes then so be it. We need pressure and we need it now, dammit!!!

Our offense looked horribly inept. No points and only 86 total yards! Are you kidding me? What the hell?!!! Even the Lions didn't have an 86-yard offensive performance last year and they went 0-16. Our O-line is supposed to be our strength and they got dominated like they were a bunch of rag-dolls out there today. Either the Giants have the best D-line in football or our O-line is overrated.

I'm all for benching Leftwich and starting JJ at this point. What the hell...what do we have to lose? At least he provides some extra spark with his mobility, and his passing is just as good as Leftwich's.

Bench Leftwich, get some damn DE help, dial up some blitzes and maybe we can go 4-12 by the time it's all said and done.

Damn!

Clayton 3 drops.
How and when will Barrett Ruud begin to get called out by these boards???
Leftwich was a scrap heap signing that people we're skeptical to begin with.
Everyone was clamoring for Barrett "GIVE ME A LONG TERM DEAL" Ruud.
We'll guess what, he is not a Pro Bowl Caliber LB, at least not this year. HE MAKES ZERO game changing plays, gets blown out of the whole, and all his tackles come 9 yards down field. Leftwich isn't good we've already come to that conclusion, where is the rightful bashing of RUUD.

4:11pm, September 27, 2009

Charbeth, the positive spin on this game is the fact that we get to pick #1 in next years draft!

and if we had won? .... most of you above would have said anything.
My goodness; the Giants are one of the top 3 teams in the NFL.
Don't be so hard and mean on the Bucs. It really isn't necessary.
We have a decent chance to beat Washington next week; lets focus on that.
Geez, some of you are way to angry. I am sorry for you that your life is ruined by this loss.
Go Bucs! Get Better!

litzy - Ruud was all over the field and played his heart out. The problem is that when a middle linebacker has to make all the plays there are serious holes in the defense. Is it too early to start www.firefasttalker.com?

I agree hold hearted with you cremdonado! I hope the entire ManU organization fails and they lose their ass over there! The Glazers a.) don't have a clue when it comes to run a winning football franchise, and b.) just don't care whether they win or lose, just how much revenue they made. Where is Eddie DeBartelow ??!!! Please buy the team and get us back to respectability!

FLBoyInDallas

By the way, who in the organization thought that Hovan and Sims, who were a major part of the D-line's collapse the last 4 games last season, were magically going to become starting-caliber DT's this season? I'd like to personally slap whoever that was right in their stupid face. We had a chance to get some DT and DE help in the offseason and we failed (except for Roy Miller). Now the decision to focus only on offense and let the defense stagnate is coming back to bite us in the ass.

Damn!

CB Kyle Arrington, oh yes ..... the only "win" the Bucs have was because of his "defensive skills" during the last 2 min of a the "pre-season" game against the Panthers.....oh that's.. right we cut him didn't we..........I understand he is with the NE Patriots........think we could use him now on "DEFENSE" right now?

4:19pm, September 27, 2009

Negative: Just AWEFUL.
Positive: Josh Johnson did ok.

The real leftwich has appeared. It started last week and carried over. It's not all his fault, but his decision making was poor and his throws were worse.

The logo should be chaned to a white flag because we just gave up. People were sayin the offense was good through the first two weeks but I thnk they were playing over their heads. We have truly seen the real Sackwich come out of his hole. If he continues as our starter you can definately expect to see more of these dumb interceptions. I knew it was going to be a rebuiling process but this is ridiculous and embarrasing. It pains me to say this but we may have the worst team in the league.

4:19pm, September 27, 2009

Charbeth, exscuses. Everyone makes them for Ruud because they want the quite white guy LB to be Urlacher. Well guess what he's not. Not once did you see Barrett in the back field on a run. I saw him getting plowed over 10 yards down field on several Jacobs runs. The first TD giant whole, barrett got blocked by a lineman who was already blocking another guy. Barrett may be an AVG. LB in the NFL, but this lovefest for him on these boards is just wrong. He has been hot garbage this season, and deserves an average MLB deal not a premium one like he was asking for.

Horse - what game were you watching? We didn't just not win, we got totally embarraseed, outplayed and outcoached. Plus we actually got worse after 2 previous losses in which we allowed 700 yards on defense. This isn't just a fluke. This is a bad team that is poorly coached.

My bitching isn't with the players out there but the stupid coaches who keep on making the same bonehead idiotic moves and expect the team to perform differently. These coaches need to make changes ASAP or get their asses out of town and let someone come here who knows what he is doing!

I'm afraid Bates is going to be gone by the end of the bye week at this rate. I guarantee you that if this defense doesn't show marked improvement by that time he'll be shown the door. It's obvious to me that he's still the guy we saw in Denver and the game has passed him by. His glory days are long gone. Morris needs to do exactly what he did with Jags...cut the cord early in the process and get things going in the right direction, even if it looks chaotic to everyone outside the organization. Just do it.

4:28pm, September 27, 2009

No not cover the whole field. Cover the MIDDLE. He's the freaking Middle Linebacker! They ran it straight down the pipe. He is no where in the backfield, stop making excuses for Ruud. He isn't responsible for the edges but all three games teams have run staight over the guards and run with ease. That's Barrett territory. It would be one thing if he made a couple big plays and th rest of the D let him down, but he's NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. It's a sad state if you're comparing his play to Geno Hayes, a late round draft pick vs. a guy who's suppossed to be a STUD for us. Barrett has played like garbage and it goes right along with the rest of the defense.

I was impressed that 10% of the wine and cheese bucs fans stayed after it started to rain.

While I am not a raheem fan, it is hilarious that "fans" want to jump ship already. Maybe PR and fans on this blog should start directing some of their criticism towards ownership. They are the ones who gave up 4 first and second round draft picks in 2000-2002 to get keyshawn and j. gruden. These are the players who would be forming the nucleus of the team.

Furthermore, the Glazers are the ones who have $30m under the cap while the average NFL team has $8m.

How is Manchester United doing?

4:31pm, September 27, 2009

Really?

HEY! Where's all that TALK about the TOP 5 offense??!!

I'm just wondering. And before anyone gets all fired up that the Bucs play Washington next week (who lost to Detroit today) be warned that Washington's defense IS THE REAL DEAL.
Bucs better not feel "confident" in this one.

What a MESS.

4:41pm, September 27, 2009

Really?

Where are all the Clayton cheerleaders?! HE SUCKED! That TD he DROPPED was unreal. well, typical I guess.

0-3.......can you hear the train coming........

Flyboy, I'm afraid you're right about Bates, that makes two bad hires by Morris, it doesn't look like either coordinator was a good choice. As far as starting JJ, I'll agree with most of you that he's probably the best Q.B. on the roster and should start, problem is we invested a 1st round pick on Freeman. It's not Freemans fault we picked him, but since we did might as well see what we got in him. Freeman, nor JJ could've done any worse then Leftwich today. Rah has the rest of this season, but I hope the Glazer boys have Cower's number on speed dial.

FLBoyInDallas - nice points and agree 100%
Man some of you people are brutal. Coach Morris and Bates has 3 games under his belt and you want them fired? Scott and Jim have already told the readers this is a "wash" of a year.I cant believe some people are calling out Barrett Rudd. He didnt have a good game, but come on its Rudd. Our LB corp is solid. The secondary did improve. Ill agree our D-Line looks bad. Adams looks like there is no effort. Need to see what JJ can do, kids got alot talent and is always prepared with little reps.

4:48pm, September 27, 2009

rocko23

You better take control of that defense because you won't make it through the season leaving it to Bates to run that sorry exucse of a defense! agreed

Today is the day we traded places with the Lions!

4:52pm, September 27, 2009

dont you dare blame Bates. They cut all the players and then gave him what a 3rd round draft pick and NO free agents to make it better??!! Some of you people are unrealistic.

Tell me what he has to work with!!!! NOTHING!!

Can't believe people are calling out Barrett Ruud???! You're joking right. Here's a guy asking for a new contract, his demands are PREMIUM TOP 5 MLB Money. He gets all the praise, and accolades from the local media/fans about how he's the core of the defense to build around and what has he done so far this year????
Anyone???
If the guy was a journeyman or just another starter I wouldn't call him out but if you want the big $$$ and you take all the praise when things go good, it's a two way street.
He is suppossed to be a young core leader on the team, and be a GAME CHANGER. He hasn't so the critisicm is valid.
Tackling a run down the middle 9 yards down field 6 or 7 times a game is unacceptable if you want to be a top MLB in this league.

4:54pm, September 27, 2009

bucfan47

Well, see this is what I'm telling you about this team. They are bad.

This is also ONE of the types of performances that ownership looks at as being so bad that they make a coaching change even after year 1. I'm not saying they will, but it's certainly the type of performance that makes any owners question their decision. You cannot afford to play that poorly against any team, regardless of talent.

The sad part today is that Eli looked far from his normal self. Had he connected on the shorter range passes he normally completes, this could have been worse.

I said I didn't think they would score, but I predicted one anyway; should have went with my gut feeling.

And listen, I'm not saying this to be rude or mean, but did you catch the commentators comment today on this team? They said quote: "I'm not sure if they can win a game." End quote.

Now, I told you guys last week that if they do not get Washington, I just don't see them winning a game this season. That would put them at starting the season in all likelihood 0-8, and no team is going to have any confidence by that point to play with any pride. You can play with heart and pride if you're a team that's good enough to win some games, but this team is just not.

I warned EVERYONE months in advance of this much change, and there's no doubt it's beginning to backfire.

I realize I'm going to continue getting backlash from Tampa fans on this board, but I've officially taken 5-6 wins officially off the board for the remainder of the season. At this point, I think that's not possible.

Right now, they need to put every ounce of energy they have into preparing for Washington next week, who will be coming off a humiliating loss to Detroit (don't know whether that's good or bad) and they MUST WIN THAT GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they don't, I'm going to officially announce 0-16 until I'm proven otherwise.

That's how strongly I feel about it.

Well it was hot. then rainy then hot again but at least I got over face value for my other two tickets. Thanks Giants fan next to me.

I thought Leftwich gave us the best chance to win now.
I'm confused how Freeman could possibly be worse.

litzy1 YOU MUST BE A DITZY BI-TCH BARRET RUUD WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT WAS PLAYING TODAY AND EVERYDAY WHAT GAME WERE U WATCHIN

4:57pm, September 27, 2009

bucfan47

litzy1 - I think fans are disappionted in him but let me say this, you're only as good as your front four. Ray Lewis has Haloti in front of him, and it allows him to take up space for Lewis to run around and make plays.

Ruud has a completely different setup. He had Brooks and June last season, two guys Bucs fans completely wrote off as being happy to see them go, but I'm telling you right now, say what you want but Ruud is now realizing that the combination of an ineffective D-Line with inexperienced LB's is simply too much to overcome.

I'll promise you Ruud is the same player he's been all along, probably even better if you want the truth, but it's the guys around him that are THAT BAD. There is no pass rush and ALL THE DT's are no fits for this scheme, outside of Roy Miller, who doesn't know what the hell he's doing either at this point...

4:59pm, September 27, 2009

surferdudes

This is what good teams do, they see film and game plan for you. Our offense suprised the first to opponents, but now we've been exposed. On the other hand our coach's seem to be clueless on how to move forward. What has Bates done to make anyone believe he has the answers to turn this around? As far as Olsen goes the best thing he can do is bench Lefty like all his previous teams have done, and Rah does seem in over his head.

5:00pm, September 27, 2009

Well for all you that can not see the local post game show, The great brain Morris will NOT pull Slugwich as starter. If he does he has to pull everyone. I am sure PR will have more on this later. HOLY SH....T

5:00pm, September 27, 2009

litzy1

P-cola just cause you want to have Ruud's baby don't make excuses. Rewatch the Jacobs TD right down the middle, 9 yards down field Ruud doesn't even get a hand on him. The whole team stinks but if you're a "legit" football fan the critisicm goes to everyone not just the guys who aren't you're favorite players. I get it Ruud is a fan favorite, but he has not helped the D at all. He's there to make plays and is a "big time" LB. Take away his years in the cover 2, i'm talking about THIS YEAR! Has he caused a turnover? Does he have a sack? how many tackles for a loss or even tipped passes does he have??? I know Barrett Ruud is my hero fans are gonna blast me but I don't care, he was pegged as the next GREAT, not average, not just enough to start, not a fill in, BUT GREAT LB. He is not playing like a great linebacker bottom line. Is he the only issue on Defense, of course not, the D-line is terrible but i'm only getting retorts on Ruud because he's a fan favorite.

5:02pm, September 27, 2009

this team just plain sucks,i'm not going to watch this bullshit anymore,i've watched this team from the beginning, and i don;t have the patience to watch another decade plus of losing,i've already spent my entire childhood making excuses for this ''football'' team sell the kickball team or sell the bucs to debartolo because im sick of wasting time watching this uncompetitive piece of crap thats trotted outevery sunday. one more thing j.j. is twice the football player that suckwich is,he should be cleaning the stadium after games!!!!

5:03pm, September 27, 2009

bucfan47

Say what you want, but you CANNOT pull Leftwich. The type of performance Johnson gave today is the SAME type of performance that CASUAL FANS take off and run with, but it's FOOLS GOLD.

If they put Johnson in as starter, you can book 0-16 and I would bet any amount of money I got on that.

You cannot let that performance trick you into thinking Johnson is the best decision moving forward. Teams would gameplan him, and make him look silly. No way.

5:03pm, September 27, 2009

charbeth2

litzy - nowhere to be found? He had 20 tackles last week and he was the one that kept tackling Brandon Jacobs today when everyone else had missed the tackle. If he is not playing well it is because the defense doesn't know from play to play if they are running Bates' defense or RahRah's Tampa 2. Let's not lose sight of the fact that RahRah Fast-Talker is to blame for this debacle. He actually has the gall to say that this was not an embarassing loss. Are you kidding me? I think they let go the wrong coordinator.

5:05pm, September 27, 2009

litzy1

Bucfan47, Hardy Nickerson MLB played ON FAR WORSE BUC teams but he still made plays and showed his skill set. You saw Hardy even in bad losses make some "wow" plays. Like I said if Ruud was making a few impact plays and then just getting over powered by a team thats one thing, you can say his supporting cast stinks. But he's not, he's been mediocre so far all season.

5:05pm, September 27, 2009

bucsmaniac

Time for Freeman to start his training...Sanchez and Stafford are doing well...lets see what the kid can really do...Oh and all you Gruden lovers still around...this is what happens when u dont build through the draft...we have mostly 2nd and 3rd string starters on defense...next year first 5 picks will have to be defense.

5:06pm, September 27, 2009

rayehnle

Leftwich and Adams should be benched and not allowed to do another interview. They are an embracement. Start Johnson, he looked far superior to Leftwich and did an excellent interview. Stick the experience Leftwich has - It is absurd.

5:06pm, September 27, 2009

litzy1

Charbeth don't lie with stats on here or you're going to get punked. Barrett Ruud had 5...COUNT THEM 5 tackles according to the OFFICIAL NFL Stats dept. in last weeks loss to Buffalo. Like I said you have you're Ruud "fans" who can't stand an honest critisicm of their favorite player. I'm not arguing that Ruud "can't" be a good player, I'm arguing that after all the hype/contract demands he's not PERFORMING like a TOP LB, no one has been able to logically deny this point. And making up "fake" stats does not count as proof.

5:09pm, September 27, 2009

charbeth2

bucfan47 - you are exactly correct on Ruud. You have journeymen, backups filling in at weak and strongside linebacker. Also, don't forget that Flip got all the reps at Will during OTAs and Training Camp. RahRah got it right at the press conference, you are what you put on tape and this team is just awful and worst prepared teams in the NFL.

5:10pm, September 27, 2009

p-colabucfan

WOW litzy1 Why Ruud all of a sudden, If it weren't for him it would have been 47 to 0 he was the only bright spot in the whole game lighten up he deserves a long contract

5:12pm, September 27, 2009

jam191

This is 100% a leadership issue. Last year Kiffen decides to leave with 4 left. = leadership left and so did the wins. Now you have a young coach and no field leadership from vets=losing

You can have a young coach or a young team not both. This is the balanced NFL so not all is lost, but changes of some kind are due and then wins will come.

Its still just a game and you have to find a way to have fun then you will win.

5:13pm, September 27, 2009

gg72049

Litzy1, your venting on Ruud is way off. The guy made 14 to 15 tackles today and is the leading tackler on this sorry as defense. If he had some help, you wouldn't see him all over the field trying to make tackles in areas he shouldn't even be in!!!! You , he has made a few mistakes, but he is one guy who doesn't deserve that kind of criticism!@

davdar, the reason that Morris won't start Johnson next week is that he knows if he plays him that he will look good and then it will be harder to bring in Freeman whenever he might be ready to play. He is scared to make that move because then his draft pick will have to wait to get a chance to play because of how well Johnson can play!! He will let this offense rot and lose so he can bring his man in with no pressure on him! He has already said that Johnson is only a career backup so you know Morris won't give him a legitimate chance to show how well he can play , because it will jeapordize his draft pick 's chances of starting on this team.

5:14pm, September 27, 2009

Just got home from the game. Leftwich sucks soooo bad. Raheem's decision to choose him as the starter was horribly bad. Dude, you're on the clock. Not only should Leftwich be gone immediately; you, Raheem, may never get to enjoy your "marriage" to Josh Freeman. I never want to see Leftwich again, except on a bus outa town. Jeez.

5:16pm, September 27, 2009

Litzy - learn to read the stat sheets, he only had 5 solo tackles. He still leads the bucs in tackles.

5:20pm, September 27, 2009

litzy1

Again, if you get the "praise" you get the critique that's the bottom line. No one has answered what big plays Barrett has made because there haven't been any. The only retort is he gets lots of tackles, well that doesn't make you a stud. "IF" Ruud was sound and no one could run up the middle and this guy was making a few "momentum plays" there would be nothing to critique but he's not. Right now Barrett is playing like an AVERAGE to mediocore MLB. That's unacceptable for a guy who's our "star" on defense. Read my original post, I blasted all the guys who deserved it "byron, Gaines, CLayton, ect." It's just that I hit a nerve in DARING to critique the fan favorite for not playing well. Get over it fellas, the Defense has FLAT STUNK this season, and Barrett is just as much responsible as anyone else on that side of the ball!

5:22pm, September 27, 2009

gg72049

Hey Bucfan, I pray that Morris gives Johnson a chance to start sooner than later, and then tell me who can hold the money when I take your bet that they won't win a game with him at QB! That kid gives the Bucs a better chance to win this year than any qB on the team presently!

Let me know how to get in touch with you when Johnson starts so I can take your money!!!!!!!!!

5:22pm, September 27, 2009

litzy1

YOU SAID HE HAD 20 TACKLES, that means solo tackles. He had only 5! how is that miss reading stats. He was in on an additional 8 or 9, adding those still doesn't equal twenty. You still lied with you're stats.

Everyone settle down with the QB talk. JJ gets no reps in practice as the "third string QB" and now we want to appoint him the starter and have him run the offense? Way to set your QB up for success. No move is going to take place until the bye week.

We do not have one player on our defensive front 4 that could start for another NFL team. That is the true problem not Ruud or the secondary.

Purge the bandwagon bucs fans. Return of the Big Sombrero!!!

5:25pm, September 27, 2009

litzy1

I'll leave with this simply because this is just angering and adding to the misery of the Bucs terrible loss today. Someone anyone give me a list of Barrett Ruud's momentum changing plays this season? (I.E. Big SOLO Stuff on 3rd down, Sack, INT, Forced Fumble, Fumble Recovery, Big Hit for an incomplete pass on 3rd down, Pass deflected for a sure fire touchdown, A big QB pressure on an important 3rd down) Star players have 1 if not 2 or 3 of these a game. I'm anxious to hear the responses since I'm unaware of any, maybe i'm missing one.

5:27pm, September 27, 2009

If we are going to be 0-16 let it be with a QB of the Future.
Any QB of the future.
Leftwich has no future. Heck he really didn't have a past.

where are you now, trapper? how's your "youth movement" look now? Guess what? IT SUCKS!

bucsmaniac---what an asinine, uninformed comment (5:06 pm). The difference w/ Gruden is that he plugged holes w/ free agents, understood the values of veteran leadership t key positions, and prepared the team with a gameplan each week. This isn't Gruden's fault; it's the current GM/coaching staff's fault: Horrible decisions w/ a lack of off season defense FA signings, purging the veteran leadership the team once had for a Potemkin Village "youth movement", none of the current year draft picks are making a difference, shoddy prep by an inexperienced head coach, NOTHING TO DO W/ GRUDEN. The days of blaming Gruden are over. Focus on the current coach, staff, not Gruden.

There is a problem if the team consistently gets beat on the same thing. This was a different loss today though. This was about the lines getting out manned. What I saw was our O and D line getting there lunch handed to them by one of the elite D and O lines in the game. Our D line is inadequate. Our O line will get much better with the return of Faine. Lefty cant play behind our O line against this quality a defense. He failed to adjust his internal play clock and it showed. He should still be the starter for next week. Now how about the Safety play. Kudos to Allen for stepping in and helping prevent the big play. No crazy big hits just solid stops. That's what I will take every time from a free safety over the bad angles and mounting whiffs that Phillips was putting up. Sab showed up nicely as well. This team is still showing progress. With Faine back in a few weeks and the defense against the big play shored up the Bucs will be competitive again.

Bucs middle linebacker Barrett Ruud recorded a team-high 14 tackles vs. the Giants on Sunday, Nuff said

14 tackles, 10 yards down the field?! Which of those 14 tackles came in an important situation or changed the momentum. If not, then who cares. I see you and no one else addressed my question. I'm done here until you can.

bucfan47, who the hell cares if they go 0-16. you sound so full of yourself that you predicted or might be predicting an 0-16 season. congrats while I go dig up my Captain Obvious award.

Personally, I don't care if they go 0-16, 1-15, or 4-12. It doesn't change the fact that the team is "rebuilding". Anyone with half a brain could have guessed we were in for a rough year. If you are shocked by our current situation then I'd like what ever you are drinking.

The real topic should be how this "rebuilding" pans out. Again, if you are gonna judge the next 2-3 years based on 3 games stop being a football fan and go get into TV poker or something. In the pre-season, Morris and the FO embarked on a very, very risky strategy of cleaning house and "evaluating the young players we have". Were the completely off-base, misguided and over their heads? Quite possibly. Are they football geniuses headed to the Hall of Fame? Who knows. Only time and the quality of their decisions going forward will reveal the answer.

I expected this to be a rough season.. but I don't think its too much to demand at least a good effort every Sunday's from this team. A shutout, no 1st down until the 3rd quater, and held under 100 yds of offense.. I don't care how good the opposing team is - that is not an example of fielding a competitive team.

I will watch a losing team. I even accept a winless season if it comes to that. But I have no tolerance for packing it up and giving in.

6:03pm, September 27, 2009

architek

Ruud is the least of our worries...

We have bigger problems starting with philosophies and vision. What are they? Where is this team going and when are they going to start showing signs of getting there?

47, I hate to admit it but your prognosis is starting to look accurate and it's really a shame.

6:10pm, September 27, 2009

cremdonado

Im now worried about being a rebuilding team-if its architects are the likes of our current coaching staff and ownership...You can plainly see that this group is in way over its head..
We have been force fed a heavy line of BS when it comes to our "top level" playmakers-Adams,Bryant,Joseph,Winslow-all are let downs..

Adams should no longer play in this league,Bryant is making it clear he should have stayed out of football,Davin is a goof and yet another first round waste of time, and winslow should get back on a motorcycle and finish the job he started a few years ago...

What will be the big excuse this week? What line of crap is the front office going to try to feed us this week..

We need to fire our talent evaluators-they obviously are unable to do their job-dont let those schnooks ruin yet another draft !!!

BOOOOOOOOO!!

6:38pm, September 27, 2009

Let's not jump on the crap wagon..... Do we think we need a new head coach......better O coach? My big thing is our drats have been horrible allot of our draft talent are not even in the NFL anymore. What do we think.

6:43pm, September 27, 2009

sunrisejeff

On the plus side.....and I wish NO injury on any player...but Big Albert Haynesworth was carted off the field today in the detroit game. Looking at what Fred Robbins was able to do today I def do not want to see him next week.

6:57pm, September 27, 2009

jvance

Percy Harvin lit it up today...I think he might have been a nice first round pick for the Bucs. Our drafts didn't have to suck.

Plus, I don't care who you draft, if you play with heart and actually coach, you'll make a difference. The defense has gotten worse over the three games, not better, so it's hard to see some sort of silver lining to a rebuilding year. We ran Gruden out of town because we thought the youth movement would help..it isn't. Ronde is still the only guy showing up and busting his ass.

Shomburg, how do you know Leftwich is the best QB on the team until Johnson is given a chance to play and prove himself??

He has quick feet, just as good as an arm as Slugowich, and looks like he knows who to throw it to. Lets see what he can do for 3 or 4 games before you make a statement on who is our better QB!

7:19pm, September 27, 2009

jadawson

the team is playing with no heart. It falls on Morris to have the team motivated and ready to play on Sunday. There are very very few players who seem to be playing with heart right now, especially on defense. Ronde is playing his ass of for the team, i just wish that would rub off on some of the younger guys who are the future of the team.

7:19pm, September 27, 2009

I just think that JJ might be a good second team QB but he might come back down when he plays with the starters....it is a whole different speed.

7:28pm, September 27, 2009

Raheem4Prez

No d-line push up front, sloppy tackling. Overhyped o-line and marginal qb. We changed head coach, offensive & defensive coordinators, qb, and even kicker. Cut older players to make room for the future. This is going to be a long year. JJ looks good but if Freeman is the future, start him soon. No need to wait. Not that 0-3 is a death sentence, but there's too many good teams in the NFC and our division to make our playoff hopes anything more that a longshot.

Not a hater to any apologists out there. Just hope we can salvage something if the slide continues.

You kinda get what's coming to you in the NFL, and the 1st time GM and HC completely went about this the wrong way. I'm a firm believer of that and I'm sticking to it until I'm proven wrong, which I'm not sure I will be.

7:57pm, September 27, 2009

bucfan47

wpmcclane - Somewhere, Gruden is feeling bad for the players but laughing at the Owners for making the move. No way in hell the team is constructed in such a terrible way under veteran leadership. jvance - That's what I've often wondered...Everyone wants these young guys to get on the field but why is it the old vets still make all the plays? Weird how that works! *sarcasm.

The head coaches #1 job is to have his team motivated and ready to play on gameday. We were not ready to play today. Our performance was embarrasing. Mike Singletary has no more talent on his team in San Fran than we do, but he has his players focused, determined, and ready to win every Sunday. I have supported Rheem to this point, but if we have another game like we had today....he needs to go.

The one bright spot today was seeing Josh Johnson play in a real game. I realize we have so many problems, switching Qbs wouldn't make us better even if we had John Elway, but it would at least give us fans something exciting to watch. We are obviously horrible and will have a terrible record this year, so why waste another second on Leftwich? Why not let Johnson and Freeman see some action rather than a sloth that won't even be here next year?

We are a joke right now. Hopefully Rheem can get this thing turned around sometime this season. Playing hard and giving it your all but losing...sucks, but what I saw today is inexcusable. I can't watch an entire season of my team being a joke. Better do something in a hurry Rheem, or you will be gone next year and a real coach will be drafting Suh.

47, I'm sticking with that line, too. I've been saying it as well. I just don't know if the GM and HC can dig us out of the mess they (along w/ ownership) created.

Honestly, what is it going to take to get us competitive again?

All we ever heard all preseason was McCown and Slugwich were nothing but backups. Well now I see JJ is only considered to ever be a backup. Well he can't really do any worse can he ?of course bucfan47 declares 0-16 automatic . All us CASUAL FANS who have been fans back to the1976 days have seen this before and changes made. The changes worked and saved Tampa some face anyway. The giants blitzed JJ on just about every play and he still blew Slugwich away. All their D was not the backups as some would have you believe.

Easily one of the worst five games I've ever seen the Bucs play.

However - everyone thought the Bucs would start 0-3. I've said that a dozen times in posts, Pewter Report (who predicted the Bucs to win 6 games) had them starting 0-3 as well. Every publication on the planet had the Bucs starting 0-3. The season is not a wash. This team has plenty of time to respond.

You throw this game out the window and challenge the team's manhood. Everything you need to know about this team and Raheem Morris' ability to coach will be evident next week.

Today was not an issue of strategy or play-calling. Today was an issue of a team's desire. The Offense showed zero heart today, dropping at least 8 passes that were VERY catchable.

The only people who showed fire were Johnson and Stroughter at the end of the game. They were young and hungry even after the others had mailed it in. A young team like this has to show that fire for sixty minutes - regardless of the score.

You have no choice but to believe that this team will respond in a big way next weak to disprove the notion that they are a team without desire. If you don't (which I can't argue against) then do yourself a favor and jump on another team's bandwagon until 2010 rolls around.

Ruud is a coverage linebacker and was the best cover-2 backer in the business until the scheme change. Why change the scheme when your best defensive player, leader, and MLB is the best in the leauge at executing a cover-2 defense? Ruud is simply not a good fit for the cheme, as he struggles to shed blocks.

In all seriousness fellas, I have lost complete faith in the front office and had been extremely skeptical throughout the off-season. It is all coming to fruition now and it is not a pretty sight. I like Raheem's flair, but he is not deserving of his "NFL Head Coach" title. It's just so damn obvious, why change a scheme which we cannot execute do to a lack of personnel.

What was Raheem going to do as defensive coordinator?

One Buc Place is a CLOWNSHOW!!!!

WOW!!! i don't know WTF (W=who) that was out there, but those weren't the Bucs...those were the Yucs! I thought the throw back game was against Green Bay?! i know there will be bad games, but that was unbelievable. i'll eat humble pie and say BucFan47 was calling this months ago and i for one didn't want to see it, but i saw it today in 3-D. i'm not ready to write off the season after just three games because we did look better offensively in week 1 and decent in week 2, but we can't keep starting these games off 17-0 and expect to keep with the offensive game plan. i don't know what they are doing on defense. if you can't tackle by this level, you shouldn't be playing in this league. there are no drills or speeches for tackling in the NFL, if you can't do it by now, how did you get this far? and where the hell are these blitz packages that Bates supposedly brings. if you aren't producing a pass rush with the down lineman, then you have to do something to create pressure. you can't guard an NFL WR for that long or give an NFL QB time to go through his receiving routes twice, someone will be open. unbelievable. and BucFan47 is right again...Washington is a MUST WIN!!!!

Let's Go Bucs!!!! Pull your head outta your....

Oh and the coaching or lack there of is officially suspect!!! we also better be making some phone calls to bring some vet's in here, this team isn't ready. Bout time for that "Players Only" meeting. Lead by Ruud and Barber.

boktor53

The most complete defeat of an NFL team that I've ever seen. Might as well start Josh Johnson, at least he can move around... but I suppose that will happen when the Slug gets creamed and injured out. We knew this team would be bad, now it's a matter of waiting a year to see if they improve. The local fans must have extra money to throw away attending these games.

i have officially lost all confidence in byron leftwich, i cant stand bates no penetration scheme(dont think you can win with it in a 4-3 scheme now a days), and im now convinced barrett ruud doesnt deserve a new contract. i dont care if he made 14 tackles, if you can honestly say that the amount of tackles are what makes a player good you have no idea about football. this is a 2 gap scheme, made for the MLB to be the playmaker. i watched barrett ruud the entire game and i cant tell you how many times he just flat out missed an assignment, or got taken out of the play.

and i cant watch leftwich anymore. if little kiddy raheem doesnt make a damn qb change i am boycotting all games. if we arent going to be good, WHY WOULD YOU KEEP THIS HORRIBLE INNACURATE QB IN THE GAME! its pretty sad that josh johnson, who has never played a down in the nfl, and with NO REPS IN THE WEEK, comes in and gets double the yards on 1 drive than leftwich had the whole game.

9:18pm, September 27, 2009

I heard Raheem is STILL going with "Slugwich" (I like THAT nickname, by the way) next week. WTF?!? We have gotten worse each week. The best we have looked since week 1 was when JJ got in today. Come on man! F--- Slugwich! Start JJ! Start JJ! Start JJ! Start JJ! Start JJ! Start JJ! Start JJ! Start JJ! Start JJ!

What in THE hell do you have to lose? Start JJ! Start JJ! Start JJ!

START M.F'n JJ!!!!!!!!!

I'm anxious for Rah-Rah to start his first round baby. My guess is, he's nowhere near a Sanchez or Stafford, but more nearly a BUST like his loudmouthed mentor. The Bucs would have been better off to stick with the QBs they had before the master of fast-talking nonsense got hired and started bringing in his choices, such as Slugwich and probably Freeman, too. JJ's certainly not NFL-ready, but he was better today than Sluggo.

One thing I think everyone on here...."positive" or "negative" fans.....is that Washington is a MUST win for this team. If there is one team that has more front office focus on them than us it would be Zorn, spelling?. Although I will say if we don't find a way to get some pressure on the QB I still think Campbell can make some plays on us....come on Bucs play hard and lets restore some hope here!

Raheem needs to be fired, he is the ONE MAN TO BLAME. He cant even form complete sentences!!!! He sounds like he is tweeting or something during these press conferences. The Glazers clearly are a bunch of cheap A@@es and they got what they payed for. Morris is WAY over his head, he has no IDEA what he is doing, he takes NO blame for his performance as a coach!!!! It's like making the MAILROOM supervisor the CEO of a fortune 500 hundred company. HE is a position coach at best. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE CALL PARCELS!!!!! Did anyone happen to catch how deep the GIANTS defensive line was? Oh that's because they went out and paid some free agents on defense.

HERE IS A NEWSFLASH FOR YOU GLAZER FAMILY, YOU WONT BE ABLE TO AVOID PAYING PLAYERS NEXT YEAR, CAUSE YOU WILL HAVE THE FIRST OVERALL PICK!!!! IF YOU DONT MAKE A COACHING CHANGE AND GO OUT AND PAY FOR A REAL COACH AND SOME DECENT PLAYERS, GOOD LUCK SELLING SEASON TICKETS AGAIN. I GOT ANOTHER IDEA WHY DONT YOU HIKE UP THE SEASON TICKETS AGAIN ANOTHER 25 DOLLARS A SEAT YOU AHOLES!!!! GO MANCHESTER UNITED!!!!!

Calling for Johnson is a bit premature...
Sure he looks athletic...he has great touch and decent arm strength, and he is way sexier than Leftwich. One he starts they'll game plan for him and make him look like a pop warner QB. OUr offense was a bit of a mystery until the tape came out. It looks like will have these struggles until the defense can step up and keep us from fallen behind so fast so early.

Stop the Barett Ruud hating. You crazy fans are pissed at how bad we look and it turns into a witch hunt where everybody's suspect. Guess What? When your team is this bad it makes even the stars of the team look a little mediocre. I watched the game and there's no way Barrett can be the playmaker we want him to be when our fattys up front get pushed out of the way so easiily. Remember, Bates scheme is predicated on our fattys holding the fort down and occupying two guards....well, they're getting their butts kicked with just one guy. Not to mention Quincy and Geno who have almost zero experience.

10:50am, September 28, 2009

amnion

I do see a few bright spots.
1. Tanard Jackson will be back and play better than Will Allen and Jermain PHillips
2. We still have Barett Ruud
3. Aqib will be a pretty good CB in the future.
4. We will have a high draft pic next year.
5. Johnson could actually be pretty good if he gets more real game experience
6. Donald Penn is probably the best guy on our offensive line
7. Our talented running backs are still healthy
8. It's still early in the season....this was the worst game out of the 3 (so don't bail out yet guys)

10:54am, September 28, 2009

amnion

Not so Bright spots
1. Defense except Barrett, Aqib and Ronde
2. Offensive Line is struggling......(naybe Faine helps)
3. Kellen Winslow is overrated....he has a way to go to be an elite tightend...right now he's just a faster jeremy stevens
4. Clayton is used goods and should not have been extended
5. Jim Bates is repeating his Denver Broncos failures
6. The coaches don't have themselves together...they are losing this team fast.

10:58am, September 28, 2009

BucFanForLife

I wonder what J. Gruden thinks of this mess...

Games are won and lost in the trenches. Both our lines got WHIPPED yesterday. I don't care who we have as linebackers, cornerbacks and safeties... The D-line gets no pressures, can not shake off lineman and Barett Ruud is being bashed... are you kidding me? We could take 5 D-lineman off of other team's practice squads and it would be an improvement. Some have said we have made to many changes... we obviously did not make the one change that was neccessary IMO. This keeps up and there WILL be blackouts this season; guess it is good we only have 5 home games. Olsen better get JJ or Freeman ready because if we lose next week and we probably will, the Glazers WILL force the change at QB. Anything to sell tickets...

11:26am, September 28, 2009

Im a buc fan, so this season hurts. Its not unexpected, but still hurts. We had 2 quality Coaches who new how to run a team in Tony Dungy, and Jon Gruden. So how long do we have to hang on to this bum? Hes a great coordinator, but Ra you are no head coach. Sad thing is that you dont even know what went wrong, you said it yourself. Here's a hint, Be a coach, not a buddy to all the players. They need to be heald accountable. I wonder if Jag's could have gotten more 1st downs yesterday?

This is YOUR team RA. You ruined a playoff team and are in the process of ruining the culture of winning, and being the best which had been our attitude.

12:01pm, September 28, 2009

SRQFan

This is the Glazers fault. They where caught up in the hope and change thing, and thought they had another Tomlin in thier ranks.

How's it feel to devalue your team by $500 million in less than a year? Its hard to sell a team when you cant sell the stadium out. Glazers, Please sell the team, take the loss, and give us a ownership group who wants to do what it takes to win.

You obviously dont anymore.

12:08pm, September 28, 2009

tjhuth

Next week will definitely tell us the heart (or lack of) that this team has.

Given the current roster, there aren't enough changes that can be made in personnel to make a real difference, so it all boils down to COACHING this week.

While Leftwich had been named as next week's starter, the one positive from Sunday's game was JJ. He showed some pretty good poise out there - especially given the fact he gets no reps.

Because this team desperately needs a win, here are two things I would do if I were king (or rather head coach):
1. I would give JJ and not Freeman, this week's backup reps. (Look at what he did with no reps!).
2. I would give Lefty exactly one quarter to redeem himself and if not, put JJ in.

observation: If Albert H is playing, Lefty probably shouldn't.

GO BUCS!

12:24pm, September 28, 2009

Byron Leftwich

I admit, I am the slowest black man on earth. It's not my fault Vinny Testeverde can beat me in a 40 yard dash. I was born this way.

I'll be doing some sprint drills this week at practice and will be really tired, so please start Josh Johnson. He is SOOO fast! And he can throw a screen pass without a 2 second wind up.

12:39pm, September 28, 2009

BucFanForLife

Well they made the change this week versus next week. I knew this move would be made.
