Fullback B.J. Askew's season came to an end Tuesday when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed him on the reserve/non-football injury (NFI) list.

Askew, who has been Tampa Bay's starting fullback since he signed with the Bucs as a free agent in 2007, sustained a neck/back injury in a car accident last week. He missed Sunday's game vs. Carolina as a result.

Askew will be replaced by running back Earnest Graham, who started in place of Askew Sunday, will take over as Tampa Bay's starting fullback.

The Bucs filled Askew's 53-man roster spot by signing third-year cornerback Marcus McCauley. He originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick with the Minnesota Vikings. The 6-foot-1, 203-pound McCauley played collegiately at Fresno State and has played in 26 games (10 starts), notching 62 tackles, 10 passes defensed.

In addition to those roster moves, the Bucs also released CB Derrick Roberson from their active roster and re-signed him to their eight-man practice squad.

Tampa Bay has one vacant spot on its 53-man roster, but the Bucs are expected to fill it by Wednesday.

Askew sure was productive when he was healthy. Too bad he seems to be injury prone...and, a bit unlucky.
I'm sure that Graham is chomping at the bit and will fill in just fine.
Not that this will really change anything this year.
I just hope to God that we win ONE!
...and/or have a great draft.

Sorry to lose Askew, but at least we picked up a bigger db. Raheem let's get this guy on the field somehow. Find the way to do it,we all know we need it,make it happen......

Graham at FB should be the norm. Whenever you have a versatile guy like graham that can do both very well, you put him in the game. He can get get breaks during one back sets and Ward and Caddy spell each other.

Askew...what happen to "a little fender bender"?

Saw this on ESPN blog for NFC South about Askews injury\IR...the last 2 sentences gave me a laugh...

"Askew suffered neck injuries in a car accident last week. Speaking of car wrecks, the Bucs play the Patriots in London on Sunday."

Askew is a good player but never was a factor this season.

Agreed 1bucfanjeff Graham should be set in that spot....unlike a lot of hybrid fb/hb he can actually block well too.

The last few roster changes have made the team stronger. Keep that up and upgrade play calling. Go Deep. Go For It. Go Bucs!!!!!

My guess is that we have seen the last of Ashew. Too expensive for being injury prone whether on or off the field.

Since he's on the Non-Football Injury list, do they have to pay him?

Askew's season over.....So is the Buc's. All except for the formalities.

Dominik and Morris's season should be over too.
