UPDATED: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers hired Eric Yarber to serve as their new wide receivers coach as first reported by Pewter Report. Yarber, who played wide receiver for the Redskins from 1986-87, has spent several years as a WRs coach, most recently with Arizona State. Tim Holt was hired to be an offensive assistant.
Earlier this week, Bucs head coach Raheem Morris informed several candidates that interviewed for the job, including former Bucs WR Ike Hilliard, of the team's decision to go with Yarber, who has significant experience coaching wide receivers at both the college and pro levels.
Yarber, 46, played wide receiver for the Washington Redskins from 1986-87. The ‘Skins won the Super Bowl in Yarber's final year with the team. Yarber originally entered the NFL as a 12th-round pick out of Idaho.
His resume' includes stints as a wide receivers coach with several different teams, including Arizona State (2007-09), Washington (2005-06), the San Francisco 49ers (2003-04), Oregon State (2000-02) and UNLV (1997).
Yarber got his first shot in the coaching ranks in 1996 as a secondary coach with Idaho. He has also worked as an assistant coach with the Seattle Seahawks (1998) and running backs coach at Oregon State (1999).
Tampa Bay's wide receiver coaching position vacancy was created at the end of the 2009 regular season when the Bucs and WRs coach Richard Mann, who had been with the team since 2002, mutually decided to part ways.
The Bucs hired former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt to fill their open quarterbacks coaching job earlier this week. Tampa Bay's coaching staff is complete, after the team announced the hiring of Van Pelt, Yarber, and offensive assitant Tim Holt.
Chris Mosley has been named the defensive assistant coach. During the 2009 season, Mosley served as an assistant offensive line coach.

I am hoping that Pewter Report in a couple months will be able to tell us that all coaches and players off season have been doing what is necessary to make our team winners again. There's a lack of leadership at coaching right now. Just my opinion.
Go Bucs! Get better!

As far as the bucs new coaches are concerned, I tend to like the fact that Van Pelt wasn't a superstar player. I say that because a lot of your better coaches were mediocre players who had to study the game in order to succeed.
I learned that in baseball, Whitey Herzog was a tremendous manager for the St. Louis Cardinals. As a player he was only average.
Let's give it a year and see what happens.
Also I heard the Glaziers may sell off part of their debt (manu stadium) or be in the market for a Manu partner. We can only hope.
I do not believe the Glaziers are bad owners. They are just owners who overextended and made financial mistakes. They are in a bind right now. If they weren't they would be spending. Let's just hope that in the long run they do what is right for the team - sell it or ManU.

We were promised a change in the right direction and I have yet to see action, by managment, that supports with that promise. While I watch other teams making significant changes, I cant help but complain about these seemingly mediocre aquisitions.
You say people like me are against every move managment makes, but thats simply just not true. I have always been behind Raheem and his retainment. I was in favor of drafting Freeman, Miller, Moore and Stroughter. And while I was against the youth movment, at the time, I do realize it is something we must undergo if we want to return to greatness. I challenge you to find a post from me that says otherwise.
You think you are the only die-hard Bucs fan? This has been my team since I fell in love with the sport, buddy. I just dropped a couple thousand on this team for a pair of season tickets, and I holler TAMPA BAY every weekend. And as far as I am concerned, during the seaosn we are the best team in the NFL. So don't lecture as if I am a fairweather fan, please.

As far as change goes, I really don't know what you expected. There aren't too many "sexy" picks when it comes to QB and WR coaches, the majority of the (legitimate) candidates are people neither of us have ever heard of. I can't think of any big hires any organization has made yet (it's a stretch, but maybe Mike Martz going to Chicago. In fact, most teams have done next to nothing because of the possibility of a lockout in 2011). I'm not really sure what you are expecting, but it's really hard to judge until the season begins. As far as change within the players, it's too early for that. Free agency and the draft is still a ways away, so nobody has done anything yet. I guarantee you next year's team will be much different from last year's team, let's just all hope it translates into more than 3 wins.

To me it's the players not the coach that wins games. It would take a magician, not a coach to turn our group of WR's into the 2002 WR corps.

I'm also glad we hired an additional offensive and defensive assistant. The owners didn't have to do that but Olsen complained about things like getting the things he needed organized for meetings (probably PowerPoint slides and things of that nature). Now the assistants can do this for Olsen and Morris and they can concentrate more or game planning and coaching.
Go Bucs!!

"With the 49ers, Yarber guided Pro Bowler Terrell Owens to a 1,000-yard season in his first year and played an integral part in the development of rookie wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, who led the team with a 15.1-yard average per catch in 2004.
Yarber was also a member of Dennis Erickson's staff at Oregon State from 1999-2002. He coached the receivers for three seasons after switching from running backs coach following the 1999 season. During Yarber's tenure, the Beavers sent two receivers to the NFL in 2001, as Chad Johnson was a second-round selection of Cincinnati and T.J. Houshmandzadeh was the seventh-round pick of the Bengals."

I'm sorry, you've...you've helped me to see the error of my ways. Thank you, thank you SOOOOO much for showing me the light. You're right.

And....haha...um....I'd love to see how interested you'd be in calling me a 'little bitch' and 'dumbass' to my face. But, I guess that's what the internet is for. People like you get to talk tough. Haha, how fun!
I have no interest in engaging you further, on account of your placement of symbols in substitution of the vowels in curse words, general nOObage and overall douchiness. Good luck on your quest for the Super Fan/Company guy/Yes man/Automatron Hall of Fame. I'd have to guess you're a first ballot shoe in.

Or, better yet, instead of allowing ALL PR whiners & season ticket holders to vote we should only allow those who shout the loudest and insult others the most to have a vote. We'd have a real winner on our hands then.

And for the information of the Supreme 1s, this is a fan site where we pay for information (the article) and a space (the boards) to express our opinions on said information and discuss it. Its a product I'm paying for, therefore I get to hve an opinion.
Also, the Bucs are also product I am paying for, I buy tix, PPV games on TV/online, jerseys, hats, panties or my GF (yep), and various other Bucs crap. Therefore since it is a product I am paying for, I as a consumer, again have every right to express my satisfaction/dissatisfaction with said product.
And I'm juvenile for suggesting that you guy won't say this type of stuff to our face and that somehow makes me juvenile in turn? Intersting. Because how threatened some of you get by dissenting opinions such as mine, and your overwhelming desire to silence them and to go so far as to say I'm not welcome or within my rights to expressing them is INFINATLEY more juvenile than almos anything else you can do. Sack up, and learn to not get so threatened by a different opinion or when someone challenges yours.....or...dare I say it...you might just be wrong.
Wow. JoeG984587677w45372846s and FLYBoysINDALLASs these days. You guys make JDouble sound reasonable...
